How Much Does Carpet Installation Cost in Phoenix?

Carpet installation in Phoenix costs $3 to $7 per square foot at RDC Renovation & Design Concepts, with the pad and the installation included. A 12 x 12 ft bedroom (144 sq ft) comes to $432 to $1,008. About 500 sq ft of bedrooms comes to $1,500 to $3,500, and 1,000 sq ft comes to $3,000 to $7,000.

Carpeted areaCarpet + pad, installed ($3-$7 per sq ft)Old floor removal, if needed ($3-$5 per sq ft)
144 sq ft (one 12 x 12 ft bedroom)$432-$1,008$432-$720
500 sq ft (about three bedrooms)$1,500-$3,500$1,500-$2,500
1,000 sq ft$3,000-$7,000$3,000-$5,000
  • The carpet itself sets most of the range: style, fiber and how dense the pile is.
  • The pad is part of the per-foot price, and its thickness and density are written on the estimate. CRI 105 requires the cushion to follow the carpet maker's recommendation, and the wrong cushion can void the carpet warranty.
  • Removing and hauling away the old carpet and pad is its own line, so a quote that leaves it out is not comparable.
  • Moving furniture is included in RDC flooring jobs; baseboards are a separate line only if you replace them.

Please note: these are typical ranges. Final pricing is set individually for each customer based on your specific project, materials, and scope, confirmed in your free written estimate.

Carpet or LVP for Bedrooms?

Carpet or LVP for bedrooms comes down to feel versus upkeep. Carpet is softer and quieter underfoot and costs less at RDC. It runs $3 to $7 per square foot installed with pad, against $4 to $9 for LVP. A 144 sq ft Phoenix bedroom runs $432 to $1,008 in carpet and $576 to $1,296 in LVP.

Bedrooms are where carpet still earns its place, because softness and quiet matter more there than in a kitchen or an entry. For a home with dogs, start with our guide to the best flooring for pets in Phoenix. For heat and dust, see the best carpet for Arizona homes.

Carpet Styles Compared: Plush, Berber and Frieze

Plush (Saxony) carpet suits bedrooms and formal living rooms. Berber and loop carpet suits home offices and rooms with more foot traffic, and frieze (twist) carpet suits family rooms and stairs. RDC carries all three at its Bell Road showroom and recommends a style by how hard the room is used.

StyleBest ForNotes
Plush (Saxony)Bedrooms, formal living roomsSoft, dense feel; shows vacuum lines and footprints
Berber / loopHome offices, higher-traffic roomsDurable, flatter profile; a loop can pull if it snags
Frieze (twist)Family rooms, stairsTwisted fibers hide footprints and wear patterns well

Please note: these are general style categories. The exact product and its price are chosen with you at the showroom and confirmed in your free written estimate.

RDC works with all the major carpet brands, including Shaw, Mohawk, Karastan, Anderson Tuftex and Dream Weaver. If you want one we don't stock, we open an account and order it.

How Long Does Carpet Last?

Carpet in a house lasts about 8 to 10 years, based on InterNACHI's estimated life expectancy chart for homes. That figure is a guideline, not a warranty. The Carpet and Rug Institute names hallways, stairs and entries as the areas that receive the most traffic. When RDC replaces carpet in Phoenix, a new pad goes in with it.

Care decides much of the rest. The CRI Carpet and Rug Care Guide recommends vacuuming at least once a week, and more often in high-traffic areas or homes with pets. It also recommends a restorative cleaning every 12 to 18 months, using a method the carpet maker approves to keep the warranty. Heavy soiling shortens a carpet's useful life, the guide says.

Most carpet makers offer a wear warranty, and CRI defines wear as a loss of pile fiber, usually 10 percent, from abrasive wear only. Matting and crushing are not counted as defects unless the maker's warranty names them. CRI links matting to concentrated foot traffic and, in some cases, to the wrong cushion. Ask which warranty comes with the carpet you choose at the Bell Road showroom.

How a Carpet Installation With RDC Works

  1. Choose. Compare carpet styles and pad options at the Bell Road showroom.
  2. Measure. RDC measures your home for free.
  3. Estimate. You get a written, itemized estimate for the carpet, pad and installation. Removal of the old floor ($3 to $5 per square foot) is its own line.
  4. Install. Furniture is moved, the old carpet and pad come out, and the new pad and carpet go in. Most single rooms take a few hours; a whole home usually takes a day or two.
  5. Warranty. The installation carries a 1-year RDC workmanship warranty on top of the carpet maker's warranty.

How a carpet is stretched decides how long it lies flat. CRI 105, the Carpet and Rug Institute's residential standard, makes a power stretcher mandatory for stretch-in carpet; skipping it can cause wrinkling and buckling. The same standard caps residential cushion at 7/16 inch. The stretch and the seams are part of the installation RDC manages, and both fall under its workmanship warranty.

What to Ask Before You Hire a Carpet Contractor

Four carpet questions to put to any contractor before you sign, with RDC's answers:

Which carpet styles do you carry?

RDC shows plush, berber/loop and frieze at the Bell Road showroom and picks a style by how much foot traffic the room gets.

Is the pad in the price?

Yes. RDC's $3 to $7 per square foot includes the pad, and the pad's thickness and density are written on the estimate.

Is removing the old carpet extra?

Old carpet and pad removal and disposal appear as their own line on the written estimate, so you see the full cost before installation day.

Whose warranty covers what?

The carpet maker warrants the material. RDC adds a 1-year workmanship warranty that covers the installation itself.

Carpet Installation Across the Phoenix Valley

Carpet installation in Phoenix can start with an older floor coming out. Phoenix's median home was built in 1985, and 49% of the city's housing dates from 1970 to 1999 (U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2020-2024, tables B25035 and B25034). When old carpet and pad come up first, RDC lists that removal, $3 to $5 per square foot, as its own estimate line.

On a concrete slab, carpet is simpler to prepare than a glued floor. CRI 105 notes that most residential stretch-in installations do not require moisture testing. In Phoenix, RDC installed the carpet tile in the church sanctuary shown above. It also installs stretch-in carpet and glue-down corridor carpet for a Valley senior-living operator RDC handles flooring for across its Phoenix and Scottsdale locations.

Carpet Installation in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Mesa and Peoria

  • Scottsdale. The dining-room carpet on this page is a real RDC job in a Scottsdale home, and the senior-living operator above has Scottsdale locations too. See flooring in Scottsdale.
  • Paradise Valley. The town's median home was built in 1985 (ACS), the same as Phoenix, so an older floor may come out before new carpet goes down. See Paradise Valley home renovation.
  • Mesa. At a Trust Auto dealership in Mesa, RDC removed the commercial carpet and installed tile-look commercial LVP across about 1,200 sq ft. See flooring installation in Mesa.
  • Peoria. Peoria's housing is the youngest of these four cities, with a median build year of 1999 (ACS). RDC quotes carpet there from the same Bell Rd showroom; see flooring in Peoria.

In Anthem, RDC has two completed jobs: the new bedroom carpet pictured on this page, and old carpet replaced with tile (see Anthem). For carpet installation in Sun City and in Sun City West, see those city pages. RDC also serves Glendale, Chandler, Gilbert, Tempe, Surprise, Buckeye, Fountain Hills, Cave Creek, Carefree, Arcadia, New River and Happy Valley.

Carpet Installation Questions in Phoenix, AZ

Carpet installation in Phoenix costs $3 to $7 per square foot at RDC, with the pad and the installation included. A 12 x 12 ft bedroom (144 sq ft) comes to $432 to $1,008. Taking out an old floor adds $3 to $5 per square foot as its own estimate line. Final pricing is confirmed in a free written estimate after RDC measures your home.

At RDC's published prices, carpet costs less. Carpet runs $3 to $7 per square foot installed with pad, and LVP runs $4 to $9. That makes carpet $1 to $2 less per square foot at each end of the range. On a 144 sq ft bedroom that is $432 to $1,008 in carpet against $576 to $1,296 in LVP. RDC can quote both in one written estimate.

Both. RDC sells plush, berber and frieze carpet at its Bell Road showroom in North Phoenix and measures your home for free. It removes the old flooring and installs the new carpet and pad. The carpet, the pad and the installation sit on one written estimate. RDC is your single point of contact from selection to the 1-year workmanship warranty.

RDC carries plush (Saxony) carpet for a soft, formal look. Berber and loop-pile carpet suits rooms with more foot traffic, and frieze (twist) carpet hides footprints and vacuum marks. RDC works with all the major brands, including Shaw, Mohawk, Karastan, Anderson Tuftex and Dream Weaver. Samples of each style are at the Bell Road showroom.

Carpet suits bedrooms, media rooms and other lower-traffic rooms where softness and quiet matter. The Carpet and Rug Institute notes that stretch-in carpet over a separate cushion improves acoustics. In kitchens, entries and homes with pets, LVP or tile is easier to clean after spills. You can keep carpet in the bedrooms and run LVP or tile through the rest of the home. RDC can quote both in a single estimate.

RDC removes and hauls away the old carpet and pad. That removal is its own estimate line at $3 to $5 per square foot, so you see the full cost before installation day. Moving furniture is included in RDC flooring jobs. Baseboards are a separate line if you choose to replace them.

Most single rooms are completed in a few hours once old flooring is removed and the subfloor is ready. Whole-home carpet replacement usually takes a day or two depending on square footage and furniture moving. RDC confirms the schedule for your home in the written estimate.

Yes. CRI 105 says the cushion must meet the carpet maker's recommendations, and the wrong one can void the carpet warranty. The same standard caps residential cushion at 7/16 inch thick. The Carpet and Rug Institute also links matting partly to an improperly specified or failed cushion. RDC includes the pad in every Phoenix carpet price.
