Home Remodeling in Mesa, AZ
Home remodeling in Mesa at RDC Renovation & Design Concepts covers the surfaces of the house. That means whole-home flooring, bathrooms and showers, and kitchen surfaces (countertops, backsplash and floors). RDC does not supply or install kitchen cabinets. Whether you update one bathroom or the whole house, one point of contact runs the job.
Mesa homes are a little younger than Phoenix homes, but not by much. The median home in Mesa was built in 1989, against 1985 in Phoenix. And 61% of Mesa's housing went up between 1970 and 1999, compared with 49% in Phoenix (U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2020-2024, tables B25035 and B25034). A house from those decades is now about 27 to 56 years old, so its bathroom or floor may still be the original one.
RDC serves Mesa homeowners from the same North Phoenix showroom that anchors our Phoenix flooring and remodeling work. You can choose tile, plank and countertop material at our flooring store in Phoenix. Buy it there and have RDC install it: one place, one contract. On bigger projects RDC brings samples to your home.
For the floors through the rest of the house, see our flooring contractor in Mesa page. Every material RDC lays is covered under flooring installation in Phoenix.

Bathroom Remodeling in Mesa, AZ
At RDC, bathroom remodeling in Mesa starts from the age of the house, and bathroom projects start at $9,000. In a Mesa home from the 1970s, 1980s or 1990s, the bathroom may still be original. Its tiled tub surround can fail behind tile that still looks fine. A newer home may have a builder-grade bathroom instead.
Either way, the rebuild follows the same steps. The old surround comes out, and the new tiled shower goes in on a bonded waterproofing membrane (Schluter KERDI or RedGard). One floor tile can then run through the whole room.
In a full bathroom remodel RDC supplies everything in the room, including the vanity cabinet, top, sink and faucets. Licensed plumbing partners handle the rough-in, and RDC is fully insured. The full service is described on our bathroom remodeling in Phoenix page.
How Much Does a Bathroom Remodel Cost in Mesa?
A bathroom remodel in Mesa starts at $9,000 at RDC Renovation & Design Concepts. A tiled tub-to-shower conversion runs $9,000 to $14,000, and a primary bathroom starts at $18,000. The size of the room, the tile and whether the drain moves set the final number. RDC writes it into a free itemized estimate after measuring your Mesa bathroom.
| Bathroom project in Mesa | Installed price at RDC | Time on site |
|---|---|---|
| Tub-to-shower conversion (custom tile) | $9,000 to $14,000 | 5 to 8 working days, plus 2 to 3 if the drain moves |
| Small bathroom remodel | From $9,000 | 5 to 8 days |
| Primary bathroom remodel | From $18,000 | One to two weeks |
| Curbless entry instead of a curb | Usually about $3,000 more, depending on the existing floor and drain | Set on the written estimate |
| Jetted tub to walk-in shower | About $3,000 to $5,000 more than a standard conversion | Set on the written estimate |
Final pricing is set individually for each customer based on their specific project. Tile choice, room size, a moved drain and the glass move the number, and each one gets its own line on the estimate. For the Phoenix-area breakdown, see our bathroom remodel cost guide. Conversion layouts are on the tub-to-shower conversion cost page, and the full service on our bathroom remodeling page.

Walk-In Shower in Mesa
A walk-in shower in Mesa at RDC is built the same way in an older or a newer home. A tiled tub-to-shower conversion runs $9,000 to $14,000. In an older house it can replace an original tub whose tiled surround has failed, so the wall comes down to the studs first.
In a newer house it can replace the builder's tub and small shower in a primary bathroom. One larger tiled shower with a bench and a niche takes their place. The marble-look porcelain shower with a bench and pebble floor below is a Mesa job.
Licensed plumbing partners relocate the drain and valve. On a slab-on-grade house, a new drain position means cutting concrete. A bonded waterproofing membrane (Schluter KERDI or RedGard) covers the pan and walls before any tile is set.
Blocking for grab bars goes in while the studs are open. Layouts, curbless entries and glass options are on our walk-in shower installation in Phoenix page.

Does Mesa Have Hard Water?
Yes, Mesa has hard water. The City of Mesa 2025 Water Quality Report gives an average of about 12 grains per gallon in the City Zone. The Eastern and Southern Zones average 16. That is about 205 and 274 mg/L, very hard on the USGS scale, so RDC Renovation & Design Concepts plans Mesa showers around it.
The City of Mesa 2025 report also explains that City Zone water is Salt and Verde River water delivered through the Salt River Project. It suggests setting a water softener at 16 grains per gallon. The same report converts the units (one grain per gallon is 17.1 mg/L), and the USGS calls anything above 180 mg/L very hard.
In a tiled shower, hard water shows up as white scale on grout and glass. RDC chooses the grout for each area of a Mesa shower: cement-based, sealed or epoxy. RDC can also suggest a fixed frameless glass panel, which has no bottom track for scale to collect in. See our walk-in shower installation page for glass options, and our guide to hard water in Phoenix for the wider Valley.
| Mesa | Phoenix | |
