Home Remodeling in Chandler, AZ
Home remodeling in Chandler at RDC Renovation & Design Concepts covers the surfaces of the house. That means whole-home flooring, tile, bathrooms and kitchen surfaces (countertops, backsplash and floors). One written estimate lists every line. On 1,500 sq ft, new LVP runs about $6,000 to $13,500 installed.
RDC does not supply or install kitchen cabinets. For a bathroom, the Chandler bathroom remodeling page covers cost, shower builds and timelines. This page stays with the floors, the tile and what it takes to replace them.

Arizona and Phoenix Conditions That Carry Into Chandler
Chandler is part of the Phoenix area, so the Phoenix conditions come first. Phoenix water runs 10 to 17.6 grains per gallon in the City of Phoenix 2025 report. The Chandler average of 16.5 grains sits near the top of that range, and the Phoenix hard water guide explains mineral scale. Across Phoenix the median home was built in 1985 (U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2020-2024).
RDC serves Chandler from its showroom at 1610 E Bell Rd in North Phoenix, the base of our Phoenix flooring and remodeling work. Compare full-size planks and tiles at our flooring store in Phoenix and take samples home free. Pick the material there, and RDC installs it under the same contract. Chandler Homes Are Newer: What That Means for a New Floor
Chandler's median home was built in 1997, twelve years newer than the 1985 median in Phoenix. About 53% of Chandler homes date from the 1990s and 2000s (U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2020-2024, tables B25035 and B25034). A house from those decades is now about 17 to 36 years old.

A newer house raises the bar on execution rather than on material. When the existing floor still works, the new one has to be visibly better in the details.
That means layout along the long dimension of the room and clean cuts at every doorway. Grout lines stay true across a large area, and transitions disappear. Those are labor and planning items, not product items.
Floor, Tile and Countertop Options in Chandler
- Large-format porcelain through the main living areas. Tile of 24x48 inches and larger runs $12 to $22 per sq ft installed at RDC, with fewer grout lines. It demands a flat slab and precise layout, which is where the work shows. See tile installation in Phoenix for the full process.
- Removing the 1990s and 2000s tile. Chandler tile removal is the job we are called for most often in this city. It is always quoted with the new floor, never as demolition on its own. The removal gets its own line on the quote; see how tile removal and replacement works.
- Quartz countertops with a matched backsplash. Replacing an older counter with quartz and running tile up the wall changes the look of the kitchen without touching a single cabinet box. See countertop installation.
- Bathrooms. Shower and bathroom work in Chandler, with costs and timelines, is on the Chandler bathroom remodeling page.
Tile Removal in Chandler, AZ
In the homes RDC works in, Chandler tile removal is usually the same job. Builder-grade tile from the 1990s and 2000s, set on thinset over the slab, comes out so larger tile or luxury vinyl plank can go down. RDC removes tile only as part of installing the new floor, never as demolition on its own. The removal itself takes 1 to 4 days.
The step people underestimate comes after the tile is up. Old thinset is ground off and the slab is checked for flatness. ANSI A108.02 allows no more than 1/8 inch of variation in 10 feet under tile. The slab is moisture tested to ASTM F2170, and cracks are addressed before the new floor goes down.
A floor laid over an uneven slab shows every dip, so every slab is checked, new or old. Removal, haul-away, slab grinding and the new installation each get their own line on one estimate. See slab prep and moisture testing and how tile removal and replacement works.

How Much Does Tile Removal Cost in Chandler, AZ?
Tile removal in Chandler costs $3 to $5 per square foot at RDC Renovation & Design Concepts. RDC quotes it only with a new floor going down. If the slab is uneven, leveling adds $1 to $4 per sq ft. For 1,500 sq ft, removal comes to $4,500 to $7,500, and new LVP to $6,000 to $13,500 installed.
| Floor area in Chandler | Tile removal ($3 to $5 per sq ft) | Leveling where needed ($1 to $4) | New LVP ($4 to $9) | New porcelain ($9 to $18) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1,000 sq ft | $3,000 to $5,000 | $1,000 to $4,000 | $4,000 to $9,000 | $9,000 to $18,000 |
| 1,500 sq ft | $4,500 to $7,500 | $1,500 to $6,000 | $6,000 to $13,500 | $13,500 to $27,000 |
| 2,000 sq ft | $6,000 to $10,000 | $2,000 to $8,000 | $8,000 to $18,000 | $18,000 to $36,000 |
Worked example: 1,500 sq ft of old tile replaced with LVP comes to $10,500 to $21,000 before any leveling. That is $4,500 to $7,500 for the removal plus $6,000 to $13,500 for the plank. Baseboards are a separate line and are not part of the flooring price.
Please note: these are typical ranges and can vary. Final pricing is set individually for each customer based on their specific project, materials, and scope, confirmed in a free written estimate. Room size, slab condition and transitions move the number. For the whole-house math, see flooring installation cost in Phoenix.

Tile Removal and Replacement in Chandler
Tile removal and replacement in Chandler at RDC is one job, one contract. The old tile comes out in 1 to 4 days, the slab is prepped, and the new floor goes in. LVP is the floor RDC installs most after tile removal. Porcelain is the choice when you want tile again, at $9 to $18 per sq ft installed.
| After the tile comes out | Luxury vinyl plank | Porcelain tile |
|---|---|---|
| Installed price at RDC | $4 to $9 per sq ft | $9 to $18 per sq ft |
| Time to install | About a day per room | About 1,200 sq ft in one to two weeks |
| Slab flatness | Most plank makers require 3/16 inch over 10 feet | ANSI A108.02: 1/8 inch over 10 feet |
The choice comes down to feel underfoot, budget and how the floor meets the stairs and doorways. Both are compared in detail on the LVP vs tile comparison. In the job below, RDC replaced Saltillo tile and carpet with wood-look LVP in a Phoenix home, stairs included. LVP stairs run $100 to $185 per step at RDC, including carpet removal, installation and the stair nose.

LVP Flooring in Chandler
In Chandler, LVP flooring is a natural fit after tile removal, since LVP is the floor RDC installs most after the tile comes out. The tile and its thinset come off, and the slab is ground flat before any plank goes down. On stairs, each tread gets its own nosing so the run looks finished from below.
Every slab is moisture tested before any plank goes down, because vinyl will not let moisture escape. Most plank makers require the subfloor flat within 3/16 inch over 10 feet, and RDC levels only where the slab needs it. In rooms with strong afternoon sun, follow the maker's guidance on sun and expansion gaps. Shaw's Floorte guidelines note that direct sun can expand the plank and fade it.
Running one plank through the whole ground floor avoids the transitions that give an older layout away. Luxury vinyl plank runs $4 to $9 per sq ft installed at RDC; slab prep, room size and transitions move the number. See luxury vinyl plank installation and what LVP costs per square foot in Arizona.
Does Chandler Have Hard Water?
Yes, Chandler has hard water: the City of Chandler reports 5 to 20 grains per gallon, averaging 16.5 across the city. That average is about 282 mg/L, and the U.S. Geological Survey rates anything over 180 mg/L as very hard. RDC chooses the grout for each area, cement-based, sealed or epoxy, with the hard water in mind.
In a shower the water matters most, so see the best shower tile for hard water in Chandler. Questions about your floor? Call or text (602) 788-1446.
