Please note: these are RDC's installed ranges, not quotes. Final pricing is set individually for each customer based on your specific project, materials, and scope, confirmed in your free written estimate.
The single biggest reason two bids on the same 1,200 square feet come back thousands apart is the bottom three rows. Removal, leveling, and pattern are the line items that quietly disappear from a low bid and reappear later as change orders. Large-format tile (24x48 and larger) has its own, higher price range at RDC.
If old tile has to come out first, see tile removal and replacement in Phoenix. Every floor RDC installs is priced side by side in the Phoenix Flooring Cost Report 2026.

Where to Get Tile Installation Quotes in Phoenix
Get tile installation quotes in Phoenix from three different types of provider, and start with us. RDC is a local Phoenix showroom contractor. You pick the tile in our showroom at 1610 E Bell Rd, and we measure on site. You get a written, itemized bid covering material and labor together, with one company accountable for the result.
That is the bid to measure the others against. Then get two more, and make them different kinds of provider. Three quotes from the same type of provider show you less than three from different types. Here is what each option is genuinely good and bad at.
| Where to bid | Best for | The trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Local showroom contractor (RDC and similar) | Same company sells and installs, full-size samples in person, one point of accountability | Serves the Phoenix Valley; you choose the tile in the showroom or book an in-home measure |
| Big-box install programs (national home centers) | One vendor for material + labor, financing, centrally handled warranty | Ask who the installer is, whether you meet them before the start date, and whether slab prep is in the price |
| Specialty tile retailers (national tile chains) | Widest tile selection, staff who know large-format and rectified edges | They sell the tile; ask whether the installation is under the same contract and warranty as the material, or a separate agreement with an installer |
| Online marketplaces (contractor-matching platforms) | Several bids fast, visible reviews, useful for price discovery | Your contact details go to multiple contractors at once, so expect repeated calls; vetting and quality vary widely between pros |
| Certified independent installers (NTCA directory) | Verified technical standards, ideal for complex substrates or large-format | Ask whether the bid includes the tile or covers labor only, so you can source material separately if needed |
If you're in the Phoenix Valley, a practical mix is one local showroom contractor, one big-box program, and one specialty retailer or marketplace bid. That spread shows you the floor, the ceiling, and the realistic middle.

What a Tile Installation Quote Must Itemize
A quote that is one number on one line is not a quote, it is a placeholder. For a job this size, insist each bid breaks out every item below. This is the difference between comparing prices and comparing guesses.
- Labor per square foot and the total square footage they measured
- Tile, including the exact product, size, and the waste percentage they've allowed
- Substrate prep, moisture testing, grinding, patching, or self-leveling
- Setting materials, thinset or mortar type, and any uncoupling membrane
- Waterproofing, where the installation requires it
- Grout type and sealer, epoxy versus cement-based, sealed or not
- Edge trim and transitions to every adjoining room or surface
- Removal and disposal of the existing floor
- Timeline, start date, and working days on site
- Payment schedule, deposit and milestones
- Proof of insurance and warranty terms, labor and materials stated separately

Red Flags When the Bids Come Back
- A firm price without an on-site visit. At 1,200 square feet, nobody can price slab flatness and moisture from a phone call.
- No line for substrate prep. Either they've inspected and confirmed none is needed in writing, or it's coming later as an extra.
- A deposit with no written payment schedule. Ask how much is due up front, what it covers (such as ordering the tile) and when the rest is due.
- Vague material specs. "Porcelain tile" isn't a spec. You want the manufacturer, product, and size.
- No proof of insurance. Ask for the certificate, don't accept a verbal yes.
- A quote far below the others. Check first whether it leaves out scope before you call it a better deal.
What Changes the Price in Phoenix Specifically
Arizona adds variables that a national cost calculator won't price. The homes RDC works in sit on a concrete slab-on-grade foundation with no basement, so the slab is the subfloor and any moisture in it reaches the new floor. RDC moisture-tests the slab before every installation.
Flatness is the second variable. For tile with any edge 15 inches or longer, ANSI A108.02 allows no more than 1/8 inch of variation in 10 feet. That covers 12x24 tile as well as 24x48.
Where a slab is out of tolerance, grinding or self-leveling adds $1 to $4 per sq ft at RDC. Any dip left in the slab shows as lippage between tiles. More on slab prep and moisture testing in Phoenix.
Phoenix water matters too. The City of Phoenix 2025 Water Quality Report lists water hardness of 10 to 17.6 grains per gallon. RDC chooses the grout for each area, cement-based, sealed or epoxy, with the hard water in mind. Ask every bidder to name the grout type on the quote.
Flat, moisture-tested slab prep is what keeps a large tile floor from failing early.
Getting a Quote From RDC

Tile Quotes Across the Phoenix Valley
RDC measures and quotes tile jobs across the Valley from the Bell Rd showroom in North Phoenix. Home age is the local difference that shows up on a quote. In an older home, the original floor may still be down, so ask how each bid prices its removal and any leveling. (Median build years: U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2020-2024, table B25035.)
- Scottsdale. The two 12x24 tile floors from Scottsdale homes on this page are RDC jobs. Scottsdale's median home was built in 1991. If the original floor is still down, each bid should price its removal as a separate line. See tile and flooring in Scottsdale.
- Paradise Valley. Paradise Valley's median home dates from 1985. On an older slab, ask every bidder whether leveling is included; at RDC it runs $1 to $4 per sq ft when needed. See tile installation in Paradise Valley.
- Mesa. Mesa's median home was built in 1989. RDC prices removal of an old floor at $3 to $5 per sq ft, on its own estimate line. See flooring contractor in Mesa.
- Peoria. Of the four cities above with Census figures, Peoria has the newest homes, with a median build year of 1999. Even a newer slab gets checked for flatness before 24x48 tile goes down. See tile installation in Peoria.
- Glendale. The marble-look tile hallway on this page is an RDC job in a Glendale home. See flooring and tile in Glendale.
RDC also serves Chandler, Gilbert, Tempe, Arcadia, Cave Creek, Carefree, Fountain Hills, Anthem, Sun City, Sun City West, Surprise, Buckeye, New River and Happy Valley. Wherever the home is, RDC measures on site and hands you a written, itemized bid at no cost.
